Longmont Colorado Real Estate

Longmont, Colorado. Could there be a more convenient or more family-oriented community within which to live? With the new and expanded Hwy 119 cooridor slicing through south Longmont to I-25 and beyond, the city offers fast routes to Boulder, Loveland, Fort Collins, or an easy commute to metro Denver. The views of Longs Peak and Mount Meeker provide a breathtaking backdrop for outdoor enthusiasts who will find 300 days of sunshine, miles of convenient bike trails, nearby trail heads, and city Rec Centers that are “over-the top!”

While Longmont is named after an expedition of the St.Vrain Valley in 1820 and founded in 1871 by members of the Chicago Colony, nothing can compare to Longmont’s aura of the old and the new! Longmont/Boulder offers the highest concentration of software-related jobs in the nation. It touts one of the newest and most comprehensive historical museums in the area and is the home of the Boulder County Fairgrounds. On any given weekend at the Fairgrounds, visitors will find antique shows, dog shows, car shows, festivals, and the beloved Longmont Farmer’s Market.

Since Longmont’s early days as a Chicago-Colorado colony, the climate and rich soil have provided for an agriculturally based community. One of the great achievements of this Chicago colony was the building of an expansive network of irrigation ditches bringing water to farmers and some of the first flour mills in Colorado. In the late 1880’s a cannery was opened. Due to great success with sugar beet production, in 1903, Great Western Sugar Co. opened their sugar beet factory.

A growing population of 81,169 has provided the workforce for Amgen, IBM, Seagate, Xitech, Conoco Phillips (scheduled opening in 2012), Covidien, and other high tech area employers. Families moving into the area will find a warm welcome through Newcomers Clubs, area places of worship, community festivals, theater and symphony events, art studio tours, and outdoor concert performances throughout the city’s prolific city park system.

Enjoy the best of both worlds in Longmont: a warm sense of community and the convenience of routes to the workplace and area amenities!
